The Epsilon Chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity has a unique property in the heart of the nation's capital:

The Sigma Chi House “2156”

2156 F Street NW | Washington DC 20037

History:

This is the second location that the Epsilon chapter has called home in it’s illustrious history. Built in 1898, and located on 2156 F St NW, it measures 1,864 square feet, contains four bedrooms, 2 full / 2 half baths, a partially finished basement and common areas for chapter activities.

The first house was located on 2004 G St NW and is now occupied by the George Washington University Law School.

Under the leadership of former EHT President and Significant Sig John Forst, Esq. (George Washington 1984) the 2156 house was purchased and renovated in adherence to DC Historic Preservation Codes between 2007-2009, with legendary architect Michael Graves (Cincinnati 1958).

Between 2012 through 2022, the chapter also occupied a second piece of property, owned by the university, known as “Townhouse A.” In 2022. EHT decided to not renew the lease on Townhouse A to focus on 2156

Following the withdrawal from Townhouse A, our priorities – under the leadership of current EHT President James Coclin (George Washington 2013), included quality of life improvement in 2156 F St NW through heavy investment in the infrastructure. These renovations included: new kitchen appliances; state-of-the-art Smart Home technologies; 3x renovated bathrooms; a flagpole that continuously flies the American Flag, and significant improvements to the basement.

  • The Epsilon Chapter is one of four GW fraternities to own an independent house within campus boundaries. Located on the corner of 22nd and F Streets, the 125 year old townhouse is fully owned and operated by the Epsilon Housing Trust.

  • During the academic year, 2156 houses four brothers and serves as the centerpiece of the Epsilon Chapter’s activities.

  • All undergraduate brothers of Sigma Chi are welcome to rent rooms during the summer months. We have historically provided a home away from home, for Brothers working on Capitol Hill, or anywhere else in the District during summer internships.
